Professionally, I am a technical writer predominantly writing for software applications. My interests lie in media creation that spans across photography, videos, motion graphics, and visual design. All these energies (I’d like to think of them as energies) are not necessarily expunged in my line of work as it requires a strict adherence to brand guidelines and offers very little avenues for creative media. I will expound on the topic at a later time. But the goal of the of this blog is to have an outlet for my creativity.

What you might see in this blog? Unlike a magazine that works around a theme. There is no overarching framework for this blog (for now). The current goal is to publish whatever has been sitting in my notes and my hard disk for a very long time. As time goes on and a relevant body of content is established, I may bring them under a niche. Until then, bear with me if the variety of content is a little random.

Why blog and not other platforms? This was a major hurdle that I had to cross before I decided to start this. I had personal and platform reasons to start this.

It started with Instagram and Facebook. Slowly these spaces became consumption platforms while becoming less and less of a creative outlet (for me personally). Akin to that, the platforms lean more towards visual media as opposed to textual media. And the latter being the one that I wanted to foray into.

I find dabbling across different platforms difficult. It’s when the blog made sense, as it can be my major publishing platform and other media can act as windows to the content here. To add to that, it is easier to tell people about your dotcom as opposed to giving them your social media platforms. I also find it special to have a nice little space for yourself on the internet. I reckon why this is not catching on these days.

It has been quite some time since I have been on the fence about starting a blog. Thoughts ranging from is it necessary to be social and put your thoughts out there, why should I write, is it necessary and so on, impeded the act of getting to it. However, reading Show Your Work by Austin Kleon (recommended by Ali Abdaal) coupled with the want to grow professionally and creatively had finally led me to start my personal blog. I’m excited to start this journey of documenting and sharing my two cents!
